Overview
Red Eléctrica de España was established in 1985 as a state-owned company responsible for the management of the Spanish electricity system. However, in 1997, a process of partial privatisation began, and Red Eléctrica became a publicly traded company. However, the Spanish government retained a significant stake in the company.
REE's primary role is to ensure theconsistent operation of the electricity transmission grid in Spain. This includes the planning, development, maintenance, and management of the high-voltage transmission infrastructure.
Beyond its domestic operations, REE has been involved in international projects related to the development and management of electricity transmission systems.
Their operations in the data centre market are currently minimal, with small on-site facilities used for the processing of company data and support of other business operations.
