Overview
Red Admiral DC, a subsidiary of Tullamore-based Lumcloon Energy, is set to build a 250MW data center in Westmeath, Ireland.
Plans for the multi-billion-euro project were submitted to An Bord Pleanála in December 2024 and in July 2025 the company submitted a planning application to Westmeath County Council, which is currently awaiting a decision.
Developed in partnership with South Korea’s SK Ecoplant, the project will be Ireland’s first energy-independent data center, generating, storing, and managing its own energy on-site.
It will use a combination of 160MW Solid Oxide Fuel Cells, a 250MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), and a 184MW solar photovoltaic array to power the facility.
