Overview

Singapore is one of key regional hubs in APAC with close to 1GW of live capacity. The city benefits from its strategic location, stable business and political environment, and reliable energy infrastructure. With several major international submarine cables passing through Singapore, the city is also a key connectivity hub. Apart from serving financial institutions and multinational corporations, Singapore’s position enables it to serve regional demand. While Singapore saw a moratorium imposed between 2019 and 2022, the market was open for applications in July 2022 with the DC-CFA pilot. IMDA awarded four applicants capacity in July 2023 with plans for the next round of CFA in progress.

Colocation wholesale and self-build deployments have a strong presence in Singapore. Colocation operators include domestic operators such as Singtel, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, and Keppel Data Centres as well as international operators such as Equinix, AirTrunk, and Digital Realty. The three major cloud service providers, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, and Google all have self-build deployments and pipeline projects. Other providers such as Oracle and the Chinese cloud providers have deployed in colocation facilities.
