Overview

Founded in 2000, Switch is a leading exascale data centre, edge data centre designs and telecommunications solutions headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada. The company holds more than 700 issued and pending patent claims covering data centre designs.


In 2014, Switch formed SUPERNAP International together with ACDC Fund and its two limited partners Orascom TMT Investments and Accelero Capital to build data centres based on designs from Tier IV Switch SUPERNAP US facilities. These facilities operate in Italy and Thailand. In the US, Switch also opened facilities in Michigan and Georgia.


In 2015, Switch announced a $4bn expansion plan to build a new campus in Storey County, east of Reno, Nevada. The Citadel campus will spread over 400 ha and is expected to have over 670 000 sqm of data centre space upon completion.


In 2017, Switch opened its first data centre on the campus called Tahoe Reno 1, its first of eight, which will have over 120 000 m2 once fully built out.


Most of Switch's clients involve Fortune 1000 companies.
