Overview

The focal point of the Spanish market, Madrid has been a major point of interest for the European market in recent years. The city's strong connectivity options, land availability, and a strong national renewable energy supply have all added to Madrid's spike in interest.

Following the uptick in activity, the city has begun to diversify in relation to the locations of facilities, with more businesses looking further afield from the initial hub in San Blas Canillejas to other areas like Alcobendas and The Henares Corridor.

The city's main obstacle to development currently lies in the lack of appropriate power transport infrastructure, where the power distribution networks have not been able to keep up with the power demand from new projects.

This being said, new projects have continued to arise in the Madrid Metropolitan area this year, with new entrants like Pure Data Centres, Prime Data Centres and Grupo ACS all announcing sites which have ranged from 25MW, 40MW, and 50MW respectively.
