As one of the markets neighbouring the key regional data centre and connectivity hub of Singapore, the Johor market felt significant effects of the Singapore data centre moratorium. Since the 2019 moratorium, spillover data centre markets like Johor and Batam saw exponential growth on various fronts. This included expansions to the overall market supply and the increase in international data centre operators present in Johor, among other areas of development.
Today, total capacity (live, under construction, committed and early stage) in Johor has surpassed 1,500MW. The majority of this growth has occurred in the last three years, showing no signs of slowing down within the Johor market.
