Tuesday: Johor Interconnect World and Annual Networking Drinks
We began the week at Johor Interconnect World 2025, where our analyst Vivian delivered a keynote session titled:
Behind the Numbers: An Analyst’s View on Johor’s Data Centre Momentum
Johor is emerging as one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing data centre hubs. Vivian explored the drivers behind this trend, including strategic proximity to Singapore, increasing hyperscale activity, and long-term infrastructure investment. The session also covered key challenges around power procurement, talent availability, and the region’s sustainability goals.
Later that evening, we hosted our annual networking drinks in Singapore. It was a great turnout, and an even better reminder of how valuable in-person conversations are. Thanks to everyone who joined us to catch up, meet new contacts, and share what’s coming next in the region.
Thursday: SIJORI Week 2025 and Cross-Border Strategy
On Thursday, we took part in SIJORI Week 2025, an event focused on digital and physical connectivity across Singapore, Johor, and the Riau Islands.
Vivian moderated a panel titled:
The Growing Role of Subsea and Cross-Border Interconnections
The discussion focused on how demand for cloud services, AI workloads, and digital trade is driving investment in subsea cable systems and interconnect hubs. Panellists shared insights on how infrastructure, regulatory planning, and commercial cooperation must evolve to meet the needs of a more connected Southeast Asia.
Later in the day, James joined the panel:
From Market Whispers to Ground Truth: The Business of Digital Infrastructure Intelligence
This panel explored how operators, investors, and governments are making decisions about land, power, and connectivity in a region where data is often incomplete or fragmented. James spoke about the growing importance of real-time intelligence and the role of shared market insight in reducing risk and unlocking opportunity.
